Sofia supports Teesside 2021 Community Calendar
Sofia supported the 2021 Teesside Community Calendar, which is produced annually by Sembcorp and is now in its 32nd year. Each month of the year-to-come is illustrated with the creative artwork by students from local primary schools and supported by an industrial partner.
This year’s theme was “Things I've learnt in the past year” and students' responses ranged from the personal: 'I've learnt to roller skate' to the more reflective about the experiences of living through a pandemic: 'I've learnt that rainbows mean happiness'.
For January - the Sofia-sponsored month - Mason Crawford (aged 10) from Billingham South Primary School drew what he learnt about Robert Falcon Scott’s ill-fated Antarctic expedition. It also features Sofia's Onshore Package Manager Richard Carpenter who will come to be a familiar face in the area when onshore construction work gets underway on the Teesside site in March 2021.
Printed versions of the calendar go to 20,000 households located near the Wilton, Billingham and North Tees industrial sites. The calendar’s key focus is on safety so it includes site contact numbers and practical emergency advice alongside the children's art.
