As a key member of the Supply Chain Team within the RWE Renewables Offshore Wind UK & Ireland Development team, assist in the development of a central supply chain and skills strategy for the UK and Ireland and undertake specific tasks and workstreams in order to establish and implement the strategy. At the same time the role will support a specific RWE project with the delivery of the Supply Chain Plan.

The current project role will be to oversee the delivery of the commitments made in the Sofia Offshore Wind Farm Supply Chain Plan, SCP, in addition to elements of the Stakeholder and Community Engagement Plan. Sofia offshore wind farm is to be constructed on Dogger Bank.  These activities relate to positive engagement with the UK supply chain, regional and local suppliers, industry organisations, business leaders, and skills establishments. 

Main Purpose of Job

As a Project Engineer you‘ll be responsible for coordinating multi-disciplined engineering work between assets and contract boundaries to ensure an integrated project. This includes the control and management of technical interfaces between both permanent and temporary works, and support to package managers in the management of information flow and contractual documentation across the project, as well as in wider engineering management. The role is a direct report to the Project Engineering Manager

Principal Accountabilities

• Identification of technical interface issues and the facilitation of their resolution
• Develop, apply and maintain interface management tools and monitoring processes, including those for scope management and for interface documentation transfer
• Ensure HSE&S considerations are fundamental inputs to the design process
• Ensure the compatibility of technical specifications and scopes throughout the design phase, in supply contracts and during manufacturing
• Communicating interface risk to the Engineering and Package Managers and other relevant project stakeholders
• Coordination of regular interface meetings with suppliers
• Management of relevant external engineering consultancy contracts
• Planning and implementation of works packages such as mock-ups, test pieces and trials required for design development
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and industry best practice
• Actively support the design review and approval process, including leading interface design decisions through to closure
• Support fulfilment of Principal Design duties under CDM 2015 and other design safety related tasks
• Participate in Design Safety Reviews (including constructability and operability)

Knowledge & Skills

Essential

• University degree level qualified (or equivalent level) in a relevant technical or engineering discipline.
• Experience in large projects where multiple interfaces between work packages and technical disciplines exist.
• Excellent communication, analytical and conceptual skills
• Strong coordination skills, highly motivated, confident and resourceful
• Experience in working under CDM 2015.
• Commercially aware

• Manage the concept design of new and novel foundation structures for offshore wind turbines, during the origination and development phases of a project.
• Provide general and specialist engineering knowledge to review and assess the performance of our existing wind turbine foundation structures
• Ensure that all lessons learned from our operating fleet are incorporated into future projects and support to Procurement, Quality, and HSSE departments
• Manage RWE’s involvement in ground breaking joint industry and research projects
• Work closely with internal stakeholders and external design houses and fabricators to produce cost effective and value-added solutions

Your profile:

• Educated to degree level in civil or structural engineering, or equivalent experience
• Strong experience in offshore engineering – preferably with both monopiles and/or jacket foundations
• Project management experience in fabrication of offshore structures
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
• Good communicator and excellent team player
• Fluent spoken and written English

Desired:

• Member of a professional engineering body
• Demonstrable experience of working effectively in an international business

Opportunity within RWE Renewable business for a Project Administrator to work as part of our offshore wind team in Swindon, initially on Sofia Offshore Wind Farm.

Principal Accountabilities including but not limited to:

• All aspects of general administration and secretarial duties.
• Support to project team based in the office including arranging travel, accommodation, meeting rooms and events.
• Contact management to include greeting guests, answering calls, and inter-department liaison.
• Handling and distribution of all incoming and outgoing correspondence.
• Maintaining the filing system and certain document control responsibilities.
• Raising and tracking purchase orders and team requisitioning.
• Co-ordinating meetings, drafting agendas and taking minutes.
• Arranging team conferences, workshops and events.
• Various ad-hoc duties that arise in terms of office administration.

Skills and experience

• Good communication skills must be comfortable liaising with a wide range of people at all professional levels.
• Reliable, self-sufficient, and motivated with a willingness to learn.
• Able to demonstrate team working skills and good administrative abilities.

• Compliance with health and safety systems,
• Maintenance and service of electrical, mechanical and Hydraulic systems.
• Fault diagnosis and rectification of wind turbine systems.
• Test, inspections and replacement of wind turbine components.
• Installation of wind turbine upgrades.
• Use of OEM SCADA systems to identify and remotely reset faults.
• Accurate recording of activities and parts consumed.
• Contribute to a 24/7 rota working and staying offshore for extended periods, typically two weeks at a time. Post initial 18 months.

Required skills and experience:

• Experience of PLC control systems.
• HV and LV systems.
• Electrical / mechanical / multi-skilled technician / engineer.
• Ability to work constructively and positively as a team player with good communication skills.
