Sofia supports Teesside community calendar
Local primary school students provided creative artwork for the Sembcorp-produced annual calendar, which this year had the theme: 'Things I've learnt in the past year'.
Sofia has supported the 2021 Teesside Community Calendar, which was launched at a socially-distanced event this week at Kirkleatham Primary School.
Produced annually by Sembcorp, and supported by local industrial partners, the calendar is now in its 32nd year. Each month of the year-to-come is illustrated with creative artwork drawn by students from local primary schools and features details of the industrial partner.
The calendar was launched this week with the theme: “Things I've learnt in the past year”.
For January - the Sofia-sponsored month - Mason Crawford (aged 10) from Billingham South Primary School drew what he learnt about Robert Falcon Scott’s ill-fated Antarctic expedition. It also features Sofia's Onshore Package Manager Richard Carpenter who will come to be a familiar face in the area when onshore construction work gets underway on the Teesside site in March 2021.
Printed versions of the calendar go to 20,000 households located near the Wilton, Billingham and North Tees industrial sites.
You can view the calendar or download a copy here.
As well as Sofia, whose converter station is adjacent to the Wilton Complex, the other sponsoring companies were Anglo American, Alpek Polyester, Ensus, Enva Wood Recycling, Falck Fire Services, Huntsman Polyurethanes, SABIC UK Petrochemicals, Suez Recycling and Recovery, CF Fertilisers and Mitsubishi Chemical UK (formerly Lucite International UK Ltd) and Inter Terminals at North Tees.
