Sofia announces partnership with new training facility at Port of Blyth
New STEM facility at Port of Blyth
Sofia is delighted to have recently partnered with the Energy Central Campus (ECC), a new £15 million STEM educational and vocational training facility for the clean energy sector.
The ECC has been created by a skills partnership between the Port of Blyth, Northumberland County Council and the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult. It has been built over the summer and opened its doors to learners in September.
The ECC’s mission is to create the pipeline of talent required for the expanding clean energy sector, at the same time, inspiring, training and delivering pathways to employment for the local community.
A public space, including an interactive visitors’ centre, is now in development and will be the next part of the campus to open. It has recently opened at the Bates Clean Energy Terminal at the Port of Blyth, which is also the construction base for Sofia. This gives RWE an excellent opportunity to work with ECC to develop the high-quality talent needed to build the wind farms of the future.
