MSc student Dan Kidd awarded RWE Sofia scholarship at Teesside University

We are delighted to announce that Dan Kidd has been selected as the recipient of this year's scholarship.

After completing both his apprenticeship and Bachelors degree at Teesside University, Dan is now studying for an MSc on the Sustainable Energy and Clean Technology course.

Dan grew up in Middlesbrough, works at PD Ports and plays rugby for Stockton RFC.

Accepting the scholarship from Sofia Consents Manager, Elsa Lamb, Dan said: "The support from the RWE scholarship allows me to fully focus on my studies. This demanding course challenges me to push my limits, and I'm determined to make the most of every opportunity it presents."

The scholarship includes £5000 to help with course fees. Membership to the Institute of Engineering & Technology will be offered alongside this to support his professional development.

Along with this scholarship, the Sofia team has also this month launched its annual engineering competition for foundation degree students.

RWE is currently developing a significant offshore wind estate in UK waters. These projects will support the transition away from fossil fuels and towards renewable energy.

This growing investment is a long-term commitment from RWE to both the country and the region. The Sofia project is delivering upon that commitment by providing skills-based education to local students, to create the workforce needed in the future.

We believe in Dan, congratulate him and look forward to supporting him as he fulfils his potential.
