New project video gives insight into offshore facilities
Our latest video shows viewers what it’s like for our teams working offshore and the facilities available for them on board the REM Power.
Now operating from the Port of Blyth, the REM Power has completed its first rotations to the Sofia wind farm offshore array. Our new video gives viewers an opportunity to see on board the service operation vessel that will be a ‘home away from home’ for around 45 team members and crew.
The state-of-the-art vessel is tailor-made for the wind industry. Built around a hybrid solution using batteries, this makes it as efficient as possible when in position offshore. On-board facilities include a gym, canteen, day room and a modern hospital supported by an on-board medic.
Senior project manager Jonathan Grigg said “The REM Power allows us to manage operations from site and gives our workforce access to foundations and the offshore converter platform. What it signifies is the start of offshore construction.”
RWE is at the forefront of the energy transition. Through projects like Sofia, we are creating high quality skilled jobs the length and breadth of the country. RWE currently directly employs over 3,000 people in the UK and our planned investments will continue to create green jobs, developing a skilled workforce up and down the country.
The REM Power will see the first of our teams deployed onsite, allowing us to complete activities in preparation for the next phase of the construction.
