The Sofia Offshore Wind Farm has won the award for Renewable Energy Project of the Year at the 2026 Humber Renewables Awards. Sofia's teacher training programme, Champions for Wind, was shortlisted for the education award, which was ultimately won by a different nominee.

The awards were held at DoubleTree by Hilton Hull, and followed the Offshore Wind Connections Conference held there since the previous day.

Once the Sofia construction phase is over and the Operations & Maintenance phase begins, Sofia activity will be managed from RWE's Grimsby Hub, so we're delighted to mark our approaching residency with this award.

Project director Jonathan Grigg said:“2025 was a year of achievements on the Sofia project, including the installation of our foundations, array cables and recyclable turbine blades. We’re delighted to have these achievements recognised with this award, which is a testament to all the hard work being put in. Sofia is progressing towards our next two major milestones; the installation of our 100th and final turbine in the summer, and ultimately becoming fully operational.”

The project of the year award was one of five wins for RWE over the course of the evening, which together highlight RWE’s growing role in delivering the UK’s energy transition.
