Draft Decommissioning Programme published

Sofia has now published its draft Decommissioning Programme for consultation prior to it being submitted to the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).

Sofia's Development Consent Order specifies that no offshore works (currently set to start from 2023) may begin until a written Decommissioning Programme has been submitted to the Secretary of State for approval in accordance with any notice issued under Section 105(2) of the Energy Act 2004. The Decommissioning Programme provides preliminary information on how the offshore components will be decommissioned at the end of the operational lifetime of the wind farm.

Sofia is required to carry out consultation before submitting its draft document to BEIS. This includes consultation with prescribed bodies and ensuring that the proposals are publicly available for at least 30 days, to obtain feedback on them.

The draft Decommissioning Programme will be publicly available for 35 days from 20 August 2020. The document can be viewed here or a free digital or paper copy of the draft Decommissioning Programme can be obtained from Sofia using the contact details below.

Please send any comments or representations about the proposals set out in the draft Decommissioning Programme by email, or in writing to Sofia Offshore Wind Farm Limited, Windmill Hill Business Park, Whitehill Way, Swindon, SN5 6PB. Please include the subject line ‘SOWFL Decommissioning Programme Consultation’. The deadline for receipt of comments is 24 September 2020.

The final Decommissioning Programme will provide a summary table of the comments and actions taken after consultation responses have been received and considered. Please note that any responses received will be handled in compliance with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation and all personal information will be removed prior to publication.
