Volunteering day at Skelton Castle Cricket Club
Sofia team joined the local cricket club for a day of helping out combined with team building.
Sofia's latest team building event comprised a day working at Skelton Castle Cricket Club - to help get a range of 'odd jobs' completed for the community sports club.
Starting with a safety briefing, the group from Sofia was split into smaller teams to get to work on the the list of needed maintenance and support jobs provided by the club.
Skelton Castle Cricket Club has a long history, having been in operation since 1876. Seven years ago it switched to focus on junior cricket and has developed a major connection with the local community, with dedicated efforts to develop young players in the area, from under 9s and up. It has also recently reintroduced two senior teams. The club’s teams compete in the North Yorkshire Area Cricket Council and North Yorkshire and South Durham Cricket League.
The jobs needed by the club covered a variety of inside and outside tasks ranging from a litterpick and general 'tidy up' to planting and potting the new community garden, internal and external painting and groundworks.
The club's Andrew Buchanan said of the Sofia team: "The team was on site today and did a cracking job. I was blown away by how quickly they mobilised and got on with everything we asked for and more."
