Tees Valley Combined Authority and Sofia collaborate on careers video

Video live on new TVCA careers website

Necessity is the mother of invention and during the Spring 2020 covid-19 lockdown, when filming face-to-face interviews was not possible, Tees Valley Combined Authority (TVCA) asked Sofia for support with the production of a video about offshore wind careers.

Sofia’s sister project Triton Knoll had fortunately recently commissioned video company CHPV to create a number of careers videos and had interviews ‘in the can’. Sofia was able to support TVCA by providing raw interview footage of team members talking about their journeys into offshore wind, that could be edited while maintaining social-distancing.

Sofia also had input into the video’s narrative to give an overview of the project and also a summary of the types of careers and opportunities available in the sector.

The team members featured in the interviews are Jennifer Bradshaw, Wind Turbine Engineer; Harry Reid, Wind Turbine Technician, and Andy Barwise, Principal Geotechnical Engineer. They all explain their route into the sector and outline what their jobs involve, to hopefully inspire young people to follow in their footsteps, or at least further explore the offshore wind sector as a possible career option.

The resulting video is now live under 'Be Inspired' on the newly launched Tees Valley Careers.com website and can also be found on the Sofia website here.

Schools, students and parents can all access the video - along with a host of other materials on the TVCA site - to help get inspired, explore pathways and make informed decisions about future careers.
