Sofia welcomes first graduate intern

Phoebe Meredith, a recent Masters graduate from the University of Bristol, has joined the Sofia Consents Team as our first intern.

On a 12-month placement, Phoebe – whose title will be Assistant Consents Manager – will provide general support to the whole consents team therefore gaining experience across the project from onshore and land to offshore and supply chain plan.

Phoebe graduated with an MSc Volcanology in February 2020 and prior to that studied a BSc (Hons) Geography at the University of Exeter. Since graduating, Phoebe has pursued her passion for environmental management by completing additional courses in sustainable construction, ecology, and environmental leadership as well as completing work experience with Kier Group. Her academic background has equipped her with the relevant skills and knowledge to assess and resolve environmental challenges and she is hoping to both utilise and expand her environmental knowledge during her internship within the consents team.

She said: "I am excited to join Sofia given the fact it is a nationally significant infrastructure project. I was eager to accept this role as offshore wind projects have such a such a breadth of environmental aspects to get involved with, and due to the fact it will give me the opportunity to contribute to the UK’s transition to renewable energy sources."

Phoebe, who started in September, has already began working with a range of consultants and stakeholders involved in the consents packages. She hopes to make a valuable contribution to the team during her internship, which marks the beginning of her career in consents and environmental management.

Phoebe joins the team at a particularly interesting time for the project as it heads towards the start of onshore construction in early 2021.
