Pairing up with Jones Bros for jobs & training fair in Redcar
Sofia and Jones Bros. teamed up to attend a jobs fair in Redcar aimed at showing the range of jobs available in the offshore wind sector, including those onshore.
A team comprising representatives from both Sofia and the project's onshore enabling works contractors Jones Bros. attended the latest jobs and training fair at Redcar & Cleveland College to highlight the range of jobs available in the sector.
Mike Cargill from UK STEM represented Sofia while Jones Bros. Rhys Roberts attended from the civil engineering company that is working to prepare the Teesside site of the offshore wind project's onshore converter station. The event, held in October 2021, was open to all local residents looking for new opportunities.
The joint Sofia/Jones Bros stand had around 20 interested visitors covering the ages from 16 to 60, looking for roles requiring skills as diverse as fibre optics, aeronautics, plant operation and steel rigging, while others had a more general interest and just wanted to find out about the broad types of opportunities in the sector.
A handful of visitors were keen to find out about apprenticeship opportunities and were particularly interested to learn about Jones Bros apprenticeship programme, so spent quite some time at the stand.
Positive feedback from one of the visitors was: "This session was really useful as I didn't know those type of jobs were there".
More about construction job and training opportunities with Jones Bros can be found on the Jones Bros website.
