Sofia team hands-on at Bring it On 2022
Members of the Sofia team met hundreds of primary and secondary school students over the two day STEM fair.
The Sofia team joined around 30 other engineering-focussed organisations in Sunderland for Bring It On 2022 - the exhibition for future engineers from the North East and Tees Valley.
Bringing a wide range of engineering expertise to the stand, Sofia offered exhibition visitors the chance to virtually visit an offshore wind farm via virtual reality headsets and try their luck at increasing a wind turbine's energy output by moving the angle of the blades.
The stand was busy with a constant stream of young people eager to find out more about offshore wind. It was also visited by both the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Sunderland, with their respective Mayoral Consorts - all taking a turn with the headsets.
In total around 1500 students from primary and secondary schools attended the event over the two days in October for the free exhibition aimed at encouraging young people to learn more about engineering and its future careers options.
There was also an evening for final year University engineering students to meet with our exhibitors and talk about future careers options.
