The Marske Centre

Provision of much-needed sporting equipment to a community centre that is a local hub for local residents of all ages.

Ensuring the sports hall is a hub for well being

The organisation: The Marske Centre is a former leisure centre taken over as a charity to provide a community hub for the area, open for all local residents to enjoy. It includes a club room, function room, sports hall and coffee/socialising area and provides a venue for a range of social, sporting and well-being pursuits including fitness classes for children with special needs and the elderly and a diverse range of recreational activities.

The initiative: A grant was provided to help The Markse Centre purchase gear for the sports hall including table tennis table, mini sporting trampoline, basketball nets, wall bars and other equipment.

The aim is to enhance the range of what is available to local residents, encouraging an increased uptake in activities that will improve their confidence, health, fitness and general well-being.  Particularly after more than a year of lockdowns and social isolation, the charity is keen to improve the variety of activities on offer to cater to the widest range of people, encouraging new visitors and broader social interactions.
