Kirkleatham Parish

Supporting a regular weekly drop-in event at the new community facility for residents who may have spent much of the past 18 months in social isolation. They will be take part in activities, have a chat and seek advice over a cup of tea and learn new skills.

The organisation: Kirkleatham Parochial Church Council (known as Kirkleatham Parish) undertakes activities that support the pastoral and social needs of the local community, in an area of high deprivation. These include initiatives to tackle isolation, improve health and wellbeing, relieve poverty, support local families and provide local facilities.

The initiative: The grant will enable the group to operate a regular drop-in session every Monday by funding a meeting room and refreshments at the new church/community facility. The drop-in sessions will give local residents a place to go regularly so they can be with others and enjoy friendship and after more than a year with much social isolation. It will also provide opportunities to talk about any issues they may be having in their lives and seek support and advice from others. As well, the sessions will encourage participation in free community activities - such as craft/knit and natter sessions, social and games afternoons - to meet and enjoy fellowship.
